I had spent the night in Mexican Hat, packed up my things, and hit the road back towards Monument Valley for
sunrise. I could start to make out the wispy clouds set against the lightening sky, and knew the potential was
there. The question was, would the clouds at the horizon be too thick and kill the color. I was also running a little
behind schedule, so I pushed the accelerator down and crossed my fingers. The color had already began when I
pulled into the parking lot, and I worked at a fever pitch to get setup. Once I was set up and shooting, I slowed
down and began to enjoy the show unfolding before me.
