Arriving at the Maroon Bells well before sunrise, I had claimed my place on the lake shore among the many
photographers after the fall color. The Maroon Bells are said to be the most photographed spot in Colorado, and
for good reason. One would be hard pressed to design a better alpine scene than the bells. As everyone waited
for the sunrise, I fired of a few test shots to check my settings. I liked the tone I was getting in the predawn light. I
thought of how many photographers, including myself, "slow down" a stream to get a milky effect on the water,
and thought I'd experiment with that on the lake. Getting out of your normal routine can be rewarding.
