I had traveled down to Great Sand Dunes National Park in hopes of catching some snow on the dunes. The
forecast had called for it, but as I drove closer to the dunes I could tell they didn't have any on them. Conditions
that morning were challenging to say the least. 32 degrees with howling winds, and almost total cloud cover. I
kind of wandered, not knowing what to focus on, if anything. A few random spots would open in the clouds as
they crossed over the mountains to the east, dropping a fast moving spot of light on the dunes. I saw this line of
dunes and composed the shot, then protected my camera and lens while I waited for the light to hit.
