Shooting sunrise the day before, I noticed how the mountains south of Crested Butte received light before the
ones north of town near Gothic. I went scouting for a shot south of town and found this huge area covered in
flowers. The light was harsh at the time but I explored the hillside, looking for the right angle towards the
mountain ridge to the southwest. The alarm was then set for 5AM and I awoke the next day to patchy clouds in
the predawn light. I knew there was good potential for a nice sunrise shot and drove out, hoping for the best.
