Above Castle Valley
I had scouted out this shot on Google Earth from two approaches, each a slightly different view than the other. I
tried the first one via the Cache Valley 4x4 trail in Arches National Park. It was extremely challenging, even with
my Rubicon. A hike at the end of the trail took me to a great view, but the weather was all clouds and the light
was flat. Leaving the Moab area two days later, I got a last minute urge to go at least scout out the other angle. I
parked at my best guess for a starting point, ate and got my gear ready. The mile and a half hike took me 50
minutes with a little route finding, but was rewarded greatly when I crested the plateau and saw the view across
the Castle Valley. I was happy to see the puffy clouds adding some nice spotty lighting, and hung out for a
couple hours, shooting a few pics every so often while soaking in the ever changing scene.
